A body lift is designed to tighten the skin of a patient all the way around their body. Patients who most benefit from body lift surgery have lost a large amount of weight and have significant deformity from skin laxity. The body lift may address the lower body or the upper torso.
Body lift Procedure
Body lifts can be performed in two different ways, to treat either the upper or the lower body. The lower body lift typically includes a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), thigh lift and buttocks lift performed at the same time. The incision is concealed around the waistline so that it’s not visible when wearing underwear or a bikini. An Upper body lift is for patients with severe skin laxity of the upper torso including the back. The upper body lift typically includes a back lift, concealed in the bra line and upper abdominoplasty.
Candidates for Body lift
- Have lost large amounts of weight and are close to their ideal weight
- Genetically have large fat deposits and or excess skin on their thighs
- Should be healthy and well nourished without vitamin or mineral deficiencies.
Body lift Recovery
Patients typically take at least one week off from work for body lift surgery. Patients are encouraged to walk shortly after the operation. Full exercise may be resumed at approximately 6 weeks.
